Our Origin Story

Ascent Total Performance was founded on a simple belief: there is a better way.

Dr. Jim Floyd’s journey didn’t begin in a clinic—it started in the world of marketing and event planning in Los Angeles, where he worked with celebrities and experienced incredible opportunities. But despite the glitz, something was missing. His true passion was in health, movement, and helping people unlock their best potential.

That calling led Jim back home to South Carolina, where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from USC in 2009. Over the next decade, he honed his skills, treated thousands of patients, and saw firsthand the limitations of high-volume, “cookie-cutter” care. He knew patients deserved more than being one of three people a therapist was juggling at once. They deserved time, attention, and care that addressed the root cause of their pain.

In 2016, Jim co-founded a clinic that grew quickly, proving that the model of one-on-one, patient-first care worked. By 2021, he was ready to take the next step—and Ascent Total Performance was born.

A graphic with the heading 'ATP isn't just a physical therapy clinic. It's a commitment to:' followed by three blue boxes with white icons and text. The first box has an icon of a person meditating with a heart and apple above, and says 'One-on-one expert care that digs deeper than symptoms.' The second box has an icon of dumbbells and says 'Empowering patients to move beyond pain and reclaim their performance.' The third box has a heart icon with a heartbeat line and says 'Challenging the status quo in healthcare by showing that people don't have to settle for less.'

Every session, every patient, and every staff member is guided by the same mission: to prove that there is a better way.

Today, ATP continues to grow—not just in numbers, but in impact, helping people achieve higher levels of health, performance, and life.
